EAA operates within an inquiry-based, project-based learning (PBL) framework, aligned with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MYP emphasises interdisciplinary learning, conceptual understanding, and the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including critical thinking, communication, and social responsibility. Digital tools are systematically integrated to support inquiry and student agency. Learning extends beyond the formal curriculum through clubs, innovation labs, and participation in European projects. The DC4Democracy pilot will primarily run in flexible learning environments (club hours), enabling experimentation with the toolkit while maintaining clear links to MYP subject groups (e.g., Individuals & Societies) and ATL skill development.

The pilot aims to progressively test, refine, and validate the proposed activities in authentic educational settings, while gradually expanding participation across successive implementation cycles.

Pilot Structure
The pilot will be implemented across four cycles, with participation progressively increasing:
Cycle 1: ~6 teachers and ~60 students
Cycle 2: ~6 teachers and ~60 students
Cycle 3: ~6 teachers and ~70 students
Cycle 4: ~5 teachers and ~90 students
This structure will enable the project team to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and refine the activities between cycles.

Teacher Preparation & Implementation
Before each cycle, participating teachers will receive initial training and preparation. Teachers will then implement the activities with their students in classroom or club settings, adapting delivery where appropriate to their educational context.

Delivery Setting
Activities will be delivered primarily during club hours, with opportunities to connect them to relevant MYP subjects, such as Individuals & Societies and Skills classes.

The pilot will maintain flexibility to involve both Anatolia College and Pinewood International School, allowing participation targets to be met while ensuring a diverse range of educational contexts.

Timeline
The pilot activities can be implemented across two academic years, with each cycle expected to last approximately 6–8 weeks. This timeframe allows sufficient opportunity for implementation, feedback collection, and iterative improvement.

Participation
Across all four cycles, the pilot is expected to involve approximately:
– 23 teachers
– 280 students

Language & Technical Readiness
The pilot is not expected to face significant language barriers, as students and teachers can work in English where needed.
No major technical constraints are anticipated. The participating schools already have the digital infrastructure required to support the use of digital tools and online activities.
